summer electricity rates
2024 will see California’s highest summer electricity bills, ever.
It’s not a surprise. Utilities in California have increased rates between 5-8% per year for decades. But things have rocketed recently, with the Bureau of Labor Statistics showing commercial rates have gone up 39% between 2018-2022, and yet businesses are bracing for the highest summer bills yet.
Customers of Investor-Owned Utilities Southern California Edison (SCE), Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), as well as those of municipal utilities such as Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (LADWP), are already reporting surges in their electricity bills in the first part of the year. Our message is to check your bills and make sure you’re not paying too much.
THE BIG PICTURE
Our clients go solar to save money, but we’re about the bigger picture.
Our customers come to us with similar objectives: to reduce electric bills, to claim clean energy tax credits, or to increase energy independence and resilience. But our objective is always to build in energy efficiency to the existing operating model to make the investment sustainable, as well as the energy.
