California utility rates hit new heights
The latest figures from the US Energy Information Administration shows that the average cost of electricity for businesses in California has more than doubled between 2019 and 2023.
Starkly, this increase in the last three years is more than the overall increases between 2001 and 2019. A massive 19 years of rate increases accounted for in just 48 months!
This is further validation for businesses tired of seeing their utility bills sky-rocket ahead of the elevated inflation rate even during a cost of living crisis.
In 2023, a record number of applications to switch to solar were filed with building departments and utilities across the state. It's no wonder really.
And now, as we hit the middle of summer, businesses and nonprofits have already received at least one bill with peak summer time-of-use charges. Many want to take action to make it stop.
If you find yourself in that position, we’d love to hear from you and see if you can join the growing list of businesses and nonprofit organizations choosing solar to help reduce their costs.
