A 500% Increase?! Counting down to the end of high summer electric bills.
So, the days of summer are counted and relief from summer utility rates is the silver lining awaiting us. It’s been brutal, hasn’t it?
On average, the summer rates have increased the cost per kiloWatt hour by about 300% for our clients, albeit the most was closer to 500%, with an increase from $0.10 to $0.59 per kWh.
Roll on the end of September and warmer clothes, pumpkin spice lattes (if you’re into that kind of thing), and more reasonable electric bills (which everyone is into.)
But not so fast if you’re in San Diego Gas & Electric territory! Remember you have to wait until the end of October for your summer rates to yield. We don’t know - blame them!

Election Season in Full Swing: What will happen to the solar tax credits?
Republicans appear to be maintaining a harder line on the Inflation Reduction Act than some members of the party would like, according to recent reports.
Since the end of 2023, senior Republicans have called the unraveling of the legislation, which would wipe away the 10% Energy Community Bonus tax Credit and perhaps all of the 30% Solar Investment tax Credit, a “day one issue.”
Pressure though seems to be growing from within the party among those who value the economic boost the legislation provides for their communities. It’s not only about cleaner energy, it’s also about significant cost savings and jobs.
A Republican victory routinely brings renewables tax credits into the spotlight, but here’s hoping the growing support for key elements of the Inflation Reduction Act within the Republican party will remove some of the urgency for businesses to invest in commercial solar before the end of 2024.
